Reducing our carbon footprint

At Castle House Farm Properties we understand the need to respect the environment and to minimising our carbon footprint.

Over a period of time we have phased out energy inefficient appliances and bulbs on our properties, replacing them with energy efficient models and LEDs. Electricity use in our holiday cottages was over 50% lower in 2019 than it was in 2016.

During 2019 we also added solar panels to the south facing roof of one our farm buildings. Installation on the farm building enabled us to run the cottages from solar energy without compromising the aesthetics of our Yorkshire stone barn conversions. In most months this installation produces more electricity than we use on whole of the site.

We will continue to look for opportunities to improve our environmental position further.
